" O.K. 'Old Man' so what did you do on Monday?" he asked.........

On Monday, after fasting from 10 o'clock Sunday night, I went for my routine physical. Nine a.m. with new forms to fill and more blood to take, a flu shot, and to sit there naked but the Dr. smiles and tries not to look at a body but tries to see a person and a body.

Next was to get the car washed and after my breakfast and a little quiet time, I waxed it. Oh does it shine. Leather coat needs more repairs and then camera in hand I took some photos of a man panning for gold here in the city limits. I've talked to him before and he has experience doing it and seems to know what he is doing. Don't know if he got anything but it was a beautiful day to be alive....

"So what did you do on Sunday "Old Man'" he said....

Sunday, after  finally got moving, I grabbed my camera and rode around town. I saw people taking graduation pictures and family pictures, I saw a man flying a kite from the top of a parking ramp, I looked for places to take photos and I took a photo of the flag and a gas station that a friend manages, a glass building that I have always disliked but now find I love the reflections, and one downtown building being torn down to make way for new. Beautiful day to be alive.

Photos from my ride 9-29-10

There is Irony in the first shot. As roads here become no longer necessary they are no longer maintained and a sign is placed next to it as a warning. I hope this warning is unnecessary.  The next is of my freedom, my way to loose myself, my way to think, my way to feel alive.

I awoke this morning

from a dream. I was in uniform, shiny black shoes and white pants, a blue uniform jacket and white hat. I was walking past caskets of the war dead but couldn't look at them as they represent the loss of real people and the loss was to real, to close.

So now I am awake and one of the first things that crossed my mind was "If I was twice the man I am,  would I still be only half the man I should be?"

Thanks to all who have served our country and helped to keep me safe and tears for all of you and your families if it didn't turn out for all the best.

And now, once again, there is a tear in my eye.
